Let’s Give a Hearty Welcome to Bella from Cupy Cakey!

July 3, 2010 By Julie 3 Comments

I’m out of town with my family for two weeks to Delaware and Vermont where we’ll be visiting friends and celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary!  We’re super excited to take this trip, but I’m really going to miss all my blogging buddies.  ALOT!  I’ve got some great guest bloggers lined up in addition to a Daring Bakers challenge and hopefully a post or two from the road, so Mommie Cooks will go on in my absence.  Please know that even if I don’t return a comment immediately, I will visit everyone that took the time to visit me once I return home.

Also, be sure to enter our very first GIVEAWAY!  You can learn more HERE.  Now, without further ado….Bella!

I’m so excited that Bella from Cupy Cakey agreed to guest post while I’m out of town.  Bella has a beautiful website; her photography will draw you in and her welcoming personality, tasty recipes, and interesting posts will keep you coming back for more.

I asked Bella a few questions about herself to help us get to know her better, including a  question about Polar Bears and Smoke Monsters (yes, I’m a serious LOST fan; so much so that I forget not everyone watches with as much reckless abandon as I do) and she gladly shared her responses below.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow when she shares her tips on preparing your masterpiece; making the most out of your shopping trip.  So let’s learn a bit about Bella and give her a warm welcome to Mommie Cooks!

Hi Mommie Cooks readers! Let me start off by giving a huge Thank You to Julie for inviting me to guest post for her over here at Mommie Cooks.  I fell in love with her blog way before she even knew me.  You can tell right off when someone has a good spirit and vibe that you can jive with.  Julie has that.  She’s so sincere and honest, her writing and pictures just keep you coming back.  All of her dishes she shares will lure the microwave cooker to venture out of their box to the stove.

Let’s dive into the fabulous questions that Julie has prepared for me, shall we?

Q1: How long have you been blogging?
A1: I have been blogging for over 6 years now on a personal level.  Just over the past year and a half created my main blog, The Deal Fanatic and I realized I had a ton of passions that needed to be shared.  I blogged before anyone in my circle of friends knew what the heck blogging was all about.  I would try to get family and friends to come over and check out my post, however they had no idea what a post was.  It’s so funny to me now to look back and see my original content.

Q2: What inspired you to start blogging?
A2: Being pregnant with twins I was put on bed rest early in my pregnancy.  The days were long and contact with the outside world began to fade.  I needed a way to connect with the outside world and share all my happenings.  I am naturally a chatty person.  I love to share and connect with others.  For a person on bed rest that was absolute torture.

Q3: Tell us something about yourself we might not expect.
A3:  I’m not so much into cooking.  Now, let me explain.  I love to eat and love food.  I’m just not that into cooking full course meals.  I’d rather skip right to dessert.  Of course, if I’m eating out and being cooked for…I am a happy camper.  there’s just something about meal preparation that just doesn’t do it for me.  Dessert….ahhhh dessert.  Making it,, is as easy as walking it for me.  Weird right???

Q4: What’s your favorite meal to cook for company?
A4: Gosh….there are too many to pick from.  I’m not sure I can narrow it down but I can share two with you.  I love to make chicken tacos because most everyone loves tacos.  I make my own salsa and marinate the chicken the night before so it’s super tender the next day.  The other meal would have to be Parmesan chicken with pasta in a lite butter and garlic sauce.  It’s easy, lite, and inexpensive plus allows my guest to get involved with the cooking.

Q5: How about yourself and/or your family?
A5: We are a big Indian food eating family.  Butter chicken is our favorite.  It’s easy to make and not too complex for 5 year old taste buds to enjoy it well.

Q6: If you were dropped on a deserted island with polar bears and a smoke monster and could only eat three things while you were there, what would they be?
A6: What’s a smoke monster?  Hold on…let me Google it.  Ok, I’m back.  Um, let’s see…maybe Bananas, Catfish and Cheesecake – because I just like it and I think the Polar Bears would enjoy those too {happy bear, happy human} and last but not least, cheesecake.  I picked cheesecake because well, I just love it.  And truly if I’m going to be on a deserted island I need to have my cheesecake!…Hope you enjoyed.
