Put your Hands Together for Anne from Annie Cooks!

June 21, 2010 By Julie 13 Comments

I’m heading out of town with my family for two weeks to Delaware and Vermont where we’ll be visiting friends and celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary!  We’re super excited to take this trip, but I’m really going to miss all my blogging buddies.  ALOT!  I’ve got some great guest bloggers lined up in addition to a Daring Bakers challenge and hopefully a post or two from the road, so Mommie Cooks will go on in my absence.  Please know that even if I don’t return a comment immediately, I will visit everyone that took the time to visit me once I return home.

Also, be sure to enter our very first GIVEAWAY!  You can learn more HERE.  Now, without further ado…. Anne!

—————————————————————-

I’m so excited to share this first guest blogger with you.  She’s an amazing cook with a fantastic blog.  I’ve loved getting to know her better and I’m thrilled that she’s offered to share a bit more about herself with us.  Please welcome Anne from Anniebakes!

I asked Anne a few questions about herself to help us get to know her better and she gladly shared her responses below.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow when Anne shares her recipe for Charmoula Strip Steaks with Pomegranate Glaze.  I’ve already had a sneak peak and it sounds absolutely delicious.  So let’s learn a bit about Anne and give her a warm welcome to Mommie Cooks!

Mommie asked Anne:

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for just over a year now.

What inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging because I had started writing my own recipes and friends and family were asking me for the recipes.  It became a little time consuming forwarding each one individually, so I gave some thought to starting a blog.  I worked on the idea for about 2 months before actually starting it.  I wasn’t sure if I could keep up the pace that I thought I should to keep a blog relevant.  But then I started going through my cookbooks and recipes and figured, what the heck, I’ll give it a try!
Tell us something about yourself we might not expect.
There’s not a lot about me that’s unexpected, I pretty much put it out there on my blog, but before I was married I worked for the Mayor of a different (larger) town and he was involved in a scandal during my tenure and that was pretty exciting!!

What’s your favorite meal to cook for company? How about for yourself and/or your family?
My favorite meal to cook for my family is a little different than what their favorite meal to eat is.  I would cook: Scallops with pasta and a white wine sauce with garlic bread, but they would prefer to eat steak and potatoes!
What’s your favorite spice to cook with?
I love cooking with paprika, It’s such an awesome flavor-a little bit goes a long way and the color is to die for!!

If you were dropped on a deserted island and could only eat three things while you were there, what would they be?
If I were on a deserted island and could only eat 3 things, they would be popcorn, blueberry pancakes and Diet Dr. Pepper–I know, I probably wouldn’t survive long!

I discovered AnnieBakes a few weeks ago and I love her "comforting" recipes. It's no wonder she's a field editor for TOH — my FAVORITE magazine. I just LOVE recipes. I'm a culinary disaster. I follow the recipe, to the letter, but for the most part, the end result is, is, there are no words to desribe my wares. I'm positive melted Tupperware tastes better than anything I've ever created and I LOVE to cook. I need to have AnnieBake(s)d in my kitchen. Yes, I'm able to ruin frozen food.
