As I write this post I can almost hear Frank Sinatra crooning New York, New York from the back corner of the room. What an amazing weekend we had! I can’t remember the last time Scott and I were able to sneak away for a night without kids and thoroughly enjoy each others company; no interruptions, no whining and no early bedtimes – in such an amazing city to boot!
And the Kelloggs breakfast the next morning exceeded my expectations. The breakfast location was amazing. Guys, this condo rents for $30,000 a month and Sacha Baron Cohen has already viewed it and is thinking of buying it. Pretty cool if you ask me. And the women! I tell ya, these are some truly amazing bloggers. They come from all parts of the country, blog about a variety of interesting topics and range from new bloggers to ones who had been featured in the Wall Street Journal that very morning! I really felt like I was with the cream of the crop.
So let’s get the trip started and I’ll share a bit with you. I really want to focus on the Kelloggs breakfast, but you know I just have to share my dinner from the night before with Scott first.
We looked at all levels of restaurants for dinner on Friday night, but decided on a restaurant called Aureole that several of Scott’s New York friends said was worth the visit. I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely everything we ate was “lick the plate clean” delicious.
My first course was a farm greens salad that didn’t disappoint. In fact, it was so good, that I completely forgot to take a picture of it until it was all gone. I asked Scott is I should take a picture of the cleaned plate, but he didn’t think you’d get the full effect that way so I held off.
The second course was North Atlantic Spotted Skate.
Do you see that delicious looking sauce below the fish? That, my friends was sour cherry brown butter. Holy moly was that stuff delicious. I could dip my breakfast cereal in that and it would taste good!
And to finish off the meal we helped ourselves to a gourmet banana split with these little toffee encrusted cashews that would even make the queen’s guards smile with culinary delight. They were just that good.
You know you want some.
Alright, let’s move on to the good stuff, the BlogHer Kelloggs breakfast! I told you this was a great event and it definitely was! There were around 20 women at the breakfast; a small handful of Kelloggs representatives with the rest being all the participating women bloggers. The breakfast took place at the Jean Nouvel Building located in Chelsea directly on the water. Here’s a view looking up at the building from ground level. Isn’t the architecture beautiful?
It’s one of the only buildings in New York where you can get a view of both the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building. Check out this view from the penthouse window!
When we arrived at the building, we were escorted upstairs and greeted with this beautiful display.
See those pictures laying on the table there? You won’t believe what had been done for us; I was so touched! Just look for yourself:
We had all been asked to look at each others blogs and write what we liked. These were some of the comments the other women left about my blog. What an amazing way to warm someone’s heart. I’m going to put it right next to my computer for whenever I need blogging inspiration.
Here was the breakfast set up they put together for us….
For breakfast we had a delicious spread of Kelloggs cereal and fresh fruit, along with yogurt and milk provided from a local NY farm. Check out that view beyond the cereal spread!
They also had a few incredibly tasty juices; flavors like blueberry lemonade, cantaloupe orange and cherry pomegranate juice. We’re talking hand squeezed, real fruit, delicious. Here’s a shot of the juice table with our hosts standing by for effect.
Our hosts from Kelloggs also made some delicious dishes that incorporated cereals into them. And I have to say, they were delicious! Check out this frittata made with Corn Pops and the blueberry lemon bread made with Rice Krispies.
All in all this was a truly amazing event and I feel honored to have been asked to participate.
Before I sign off, I want to recognize the other women bloggers that are participating along with me.
