In case you haven’t noticed, Mommie Cooks has gone through a bit of a shake up! There is still work to be done in the upcoming months with regards to the overall look and feel, but for now I’m happy with where I’ve landed. The biggest change that was made, which should really help to simplify things for all involved, is to make it much MUCH easier to track down recipes. You now have both a comprehensive menu bar for searching as well as the search box on the top corner. I’ve also added a visual recipe index on the side bar for those that are more in the mood to just stroll around and participate in a little food porn (I hope you gave your kids earmuffs for that last bit). Don’t hesitate to let me know what you love and don’t love about the site as feedback is always appreciated. Thank you so much to all of you who have posted such nice comments about the changes; it means a lot to me!
Now on to the good stuff. Thanksgiving. It’s coming quickly and if you’re hosting the big event this year you’re probably starting to work on your menu for the feast de resistance. When putting together your menu, do you stick with the traditional Thanksgiving fare or do you venture out a bit and try something different? If you answered the latter, then this recipe is for you. Because after all, why stick with plain ol’ cranberry sauce when you can have a lip smackin’ delicious cranegranate sauce?
And just what is cranegranate sauce you may be asking? Well, let me be so kind as to share. It’s a combination of pomegranate and cranberry, cooked together in blissful contentment with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg to make the whole thing sing. If that doesn’t stir up your palate for a change, I don’t know what will.
Ingredients Needed:
1 Cup of Cranberries
1/2 Cup of Pomegranate Seeds
1/4 Cup of Sugar
1/4 tsp of Cinnamon
1/8 tsp of Nutmeg
1/2 Cup of Water
Throw all your ingredients in a pot.
Bring it to a boil, then turn it down to medium and let it cook for about 5 min.
Remove it from the heat, pop it in the fridge, and let it chill down for at least 3-4 hours.
And that’s all there is to it. The only thing left to do is bring it out on Thanksgiving and watch the compliments roll in.

The navigation bar is terrific, it will be really helpful for your readers and for you as well. I’m trying to work on something similar but it’s taking me a while as I haven’t been labeling my recipes for most of the two years 🙂 The sauce sounds excellent with the combination of pomegranates and cranberries!
I am really liking the overall look of your new site so far! Loving this recipe, definitely great flavors for Thanksgiving. Your pictures are so great, too! Now I am totally excited for Thanksgiving food!
Your new site is bright and beautiful! I am glad you change back to this header versus the other one. I don’t know if it is my browser or what but your pictures kind of shift a little…sort of like a little jiggle. I do still see it though.
The sauce will be great with the turkey. Sounds wonderful with the cranberry juice.
The visual recipe index is delicious. You go, girl!
looks super yummy!!

I think the pomegranate cranberry mix is brilliant. It has such a beautiful look, too.

Your new site is beautiful. I am thinking of changing mine a little bit as well. I like the name you gave to the sauce. This sauce would go perfectly with turkey.
Here in Mexico we have tons of pomegranate… but no cranberries in sight! Looks lovely 🙂
Oh what an amazing idea. I love it. It’s like a combo of two of my favorite things. Can I pour it into a pitcher of vodka and drink the whole thing myself? Because that would be a perfect Thanksgiving. 🙂
Love the new look Julie, you’ve got it all going on now girlfriend 😉 Nice little sauce too, like it.
Julie. I love the new look. You are such an inspiration. I need to update my own blog and make my recipes easier to find too! I can’t wait for Thanksgiving and one of my favorite parts of the big meal is cranberry sauce. Yours looks delicious. Thank you for sharing. I hope your day is full of a lot laughter and joy!
Making this one, too! Oh my. I want some right now just to taste. Thank you for sharing and your blog is looking great, Julie!

Yum! Are those dried pomegranate seeds?? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them before. I always have to buy pomegranates and do the work myself.
I love this look of your site. So happy for you to have it just the way you {and your readers} want it. I’ve just bookmarked this recipe. I AM hosting Thanksgiving for the first time in my 16 years of marriage… and was on the hunt for a cranberry sauce. I wanted something a little different and this sounds great! Have a wonderful day….
