Remember these critters? Welcoming their cute little faces back to the blog can only mean one thing; it’s time for another Rice Krispies competition! With the rising mercury and school free, lazy long days officially here, the new theme for this round is… you guessed it, favorite summer pastimes. As we prepare to introduce our newest entry into the mix, I wanted to take a minute to reflect back on our recipe from the first round.
When you strip away the feathers and facial features (apologies to my furry and feathered friends) , what you’re left with is a refreshing and simple lemonade rice krispie treat that can be shaped and molded to your liking or simply cut into squares and served up as is. As you can see with mine below, I cut them into letters and had a little fun with my picture. I’ve attached the basic recipe at the end of this post, so feel free to whip up a batch and let your own creativity flow; if you can keep from eating them all first, that is.
We’ll be looking for your support and votes again soon over at the Rice Krispie’s Facebook page, so get ready. In the mean time, inquiring minds want to know… What’s your most creative idea for serving up rice krispie treats? Let me know in the comments below for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card! Other entries can be earned through the usual methods:
- Following Rice Krispies on Facebook (a necessity when it comes time to vote for your favorite entry)
- Following Mommie Cooks on Facebook
- Following Mommie Cooks through Twitter
- Or just go organic and join directly through RSS or email
For additional chances to win, be sure to visit my teammates blogs where they’ll be giving away gift cards as well.
- Sommer from A Spicy Perspective
- Robyn from Add a Pinch
- Amy from She Wears Many Hats
The contest will close on July 4th and the winner will be announced on the 5th. Stay tuned for our newest summertime entry in the next couple weeks and good luck!
Update: After throwing the comments into random.org and hitting go, the winning comment was number 1! Congrats Mami2jcn!

Hmm my most creative idea for rice krispie treats… I think I would make heart cut-outs with the bars and stack/ decorate them like a layer cake, frosted and topped with ganache! I’d play around with different flavors and cut-outs, depending on the holiday/ occasion.

Probably the most creative thing that we have done with Rice Krispie Treats is we made them to look like decorated Christmas cookies one year and served them as part of a holiday cookie tray. The kids really had fun making the shapes and decorating them.

I like to cute them in shapes based on the time of year – flowers, christmas trees, easter eggs, leaves… or any fun shape, put them on a Popsicle stick and dip them in chocolate…mmmmm. You could even add sprinkles, nuts, marshmellows, or any other yummy snack to the outside!

Hmmmm…. To be honest I havent worked a lot with Rice Krispies. But I think they are similar to Rice Bubbles. I make these little Bubble Bumblebees, marshmellows, banana and honey. So yummy and a super cute treat for the young at heart. 🙂
Typically I add white chocolate to my krispie treats, but I once made some with peanut butter then dipped them in melted chocolate. Those were great too 🙂
