The Best of the Best and a New Years Wish

December 30, 2011 By Julie 14 Comments

What an unforgettable food filled year it’s been!  We marinated meats and slurped up soups.  We concocted a few crazy condiments and baked up some seriously beautiful loaves of bread.  Best of all we feasted on mounds of decadent and downright dazzling desserts.  When the flour settled and the dishes were all cleared, what we found ourselves left with was a virtual cookbook chocked full of ravishing recipes, the likes of which my family would have never seen if it weren’t for this always appetizing never boring journey through the world of food blogging.

In the spirit of the upcoming New Year, I thought it might be fun to recap a few of the top dishes from the past 12 months.   The new year promises to be one filled with many more savory sides, appealing appetizers and mouthwatering mains.  Thank you so much for following along with me on this sometimes experimental, always 100% edible adventure.  You all are the ship that guides me; I wouldn’t be here without my fellow foodie friends (yep, I’m talking about you).

So without further ado…. a few of the Mommie Cooks favorites from 2011.

Starters

The Hot and Hearty Southwest BLT Crostini

The Always Cheesy Wisconsin Beer Cheese Soup

The Blue Plate Special

Chicken Cordon Bleu with Mushroom Sauce – seriously spectacular sustenance (in my most humble of opinions)

Asian Salmon Burgers with Tangy Lime Ginger Sauce – for those of us looking for a new way to consume our favorite pink fish filets

Chicken and Green Chile Mac and Cheese – Because a round-up just isn’t a round up without a few cheesy noodles in the bunch.  You know I’m right.

Decadent and Dazzling Desserts

Chocolately Churros for the sweet tooth in all of us

Cherry Limeade Macaroons – “You put de lime in de coconut and drink em both together…”

Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream – Because fruit, cream and cheese mixed together yield something truly exquisite.

From our family yours, I want to wish you a very Happy New Year.  I can’t wait to see what we all cook up together in the upcoming months.  Whatever it may be, you can be assured it will be delicious!

How could I pick just one? The beer cheese soup looks delicious, as do the salmon burgers. And the macaroons are spectacular! Thanks for sharing your favorites with us.

It has been quite a year, the gorgeous photos you show prove it. Your comment on Sippity Sup touched my heart. Thank you. I always wonder if people actually watch the silly videos I make. I especially worry if it’s “too much me” I put out there. But I privately hope people see I am sharing a common “passion”. That’s your word and I thank you for it. Happy 12 2 U! GREG
